Kings Canyon
We had a flying visit to Kings Canyon – literally! We took a 15 minute helicopter flight over Kings Canyon and Carmichael Crag and it was totally breathtaking.
The flight was a fabulous way to experience the magnificence and magnitude of Kings Canyon, especially as we weren’t able to do the Scenic Rim Walk (the limitations of a 4 year old!) We all thoroughly enjoyed the ride.
We only stayed 2 nights at Kings Canyon Resort, which only gave us one full day there as we had arrived late in the afternoon. However it was worth the long journey even for this short time, as Watarkka National Park was just stunning!
After our thrilling helicopter flight in the morning, we enjoyed the Kings Canyon Creek Walk and then the Kathleen Springs Walk. These walks were easy for Hudson to do with us and were a great way to experience the beauty of the Watarkka National Park.
We enjoyed watching the sun set over Kings Canyon at the sunset bar in the Kings Canyon Resort Caravan Park. Matt and I chatted with other travelling families while Hudson had a fabulous time running around and playing with the other kids.
The camaraderie amongst fellow caravanners just warms my heart – it’s such a special community, where everyone is super friendly and always sharing recommendations to one another. This is one of the many benefits of caravan travel – the people you meet and the friends you make along the way. As the saying goes, it’s all about the journey not the destination.
